Description:
The Minister for Housing, Local Government and Heritage (the “Contracting Authority”) invites tenders (“Tenders”) to this request for Tenders (“RFT”) from economic operators (“Tenderers”) for the provision of the works as described in Appendix 1 to this RFT (the “Works”). In summary the works comprise: Rhododendron clearance at Connemara National Park in an area of c105 ha in total over six Lots and the retreatment of previously cleared areas as a single Lot (c201 ha). CNP lies immediately southeast of the village of Letterfrack, County Galway. It covers approximately 2000 ha. The park consists of mountain habitats, woodlands and rivers. Rhododendron ponticum significantly prevents woodland regeneration resulting in a poor age structure of the native woodlands within the park and engulfs open mountain habitat as an invasive species. Since 2021 Connemara National Park has been undertaking an ambitious Rhododendron ponticum control programme with up to 201 ha cleared to date.
