- The aim of this Preliminary Market Consultation document is to Inform potentially interested parties of Iarnród Éireann’s requirement for fuel additives or non-invasive engineering solutions that would provide a minimum of 12pc fuel and carbon reduction savings to its Locomotive and Diesel Multiple Unit Fleets (“the Project”). This is intended to obtain market reaction or market soundings from participants in the relevant market, to assist Iarnród Éireann in assessing the capabilities and offerings available in the market e.g. emerging technology, innovative solutions etc., assist Iarnród Éireann (IE) in developing a future technical specification and procurement strategy that aligns with sustainability objectives and best market practice, ascertain at what stage the market is in supplying innovative, scalable, and operationally viable fuel optimisation technologies and ensure that the procurement strategy aligns with established best practices in the market.
