- IFI require independent environmental expert advice to facilitate statutory fisheries environmental assessment procedures known as the Environmental Assessment Process (EAP). The EAP informs appropriate and transparent decision making regarding the potential implications of submitted proposals, directly or indirectly with respect of relevant European sites qualifying interests and conservation objectives, either alone and/or in combination with other plans or projects. In cases where the required information has not been included in the submission, the Environmental Assessor will need to provide specific constructive feedback, identifying the lacunae and outlining the additional information required to facilitate determination. The independent environmental expert will report directly to the project management office in IFI.
