- In 2023, in line with objectives of the Carlow County Development Plan and Carlow Biodiversity Action Plan, Carlow County Council commissioned a 3-year Wetlands Project, to undertake a desktop survey of all Carlow wetlands 2023-2024, followed by field surveys 2024-2025 of 18 wetland sites across the county. Proposals are now sought from suitably-qualified professionals to undertake this work for the period 2026-2028 inclusive.
