EM 08/25 Pavilions Structures - Midland Trail Project
CfT CA Unique ID:
Evaluation Mechanism:
Most Economically Advantageous Tender (MEAT)
Description:
The works comprise of: Gateway Pavilions are proposed where visitors access the Project Connect trail network adjacent to carparking facilities. The sites are located across the counties of Offaly West. They function to: • Provide a landmark and point of orientation in the landscape • Provide a small place of shelter • Provide information / signage to visitors • Indicate (by the taller vertical structural bay) the intended access point to the greenway / trail network The structure is a playful modular cranking form that will draw visitors in. The basic geometry is repeated across all Gateway Types, so that the trail develops a consistent architectural identity. The design intent is to use weathered/ charred timber cladding that recalls the qualities of peat previously harvested on these sites. Additionally, this finish reduces the requirement for maintenance and for use of chemical preservatives. Integrated within the plan are a couple of ledges that may be used as seating. Within the pavilion itself a different, coloured/ painted lining will be the backdrop for interpretive and directional signage. This brightly coloured interior will be glimpsed by approaching visitors and lead them in. Each pavilion may have differently hued linings, and openings to differentiate the various gateways structures and lend a unique identity to each site. The structures are uninsulated open-air pavilions. The roof is a folding, low pitched design with a maximum height of 6 metres. In total this tender includes the supply and installation of 12 pavilion as per Lot 01 below. The Lot 2 (optional) will be drawn off pending grant approval at time of award. This is broken down into different types (see table below). The pavilions consist of three types, Type 03a and Type03b (mirror of each other) and Type 04 which also acts a Rest Point along the trails. Currently, Lot 2 items are optional deliverables. The overall quantity of the Lot 1 items may be required to be adjusted from the scope after Tender submissions. The Contracting Entity reserves the right to request revised pricing and programmes from all Tenderers for the reduced scope. Tender evaluation and appointment can then proceed on this basis, if required.
