- The structural investigation is required to allow a detailed assessment of the existing Tom Clarke Bridge substructure to be carried out. The investigation encompasses specific areas of the bridge's substructure, including: - Steel tubular piles located at the bridge intermediate piers Gridlines B, C, and E. - Intermediate pier concrete. - Bascule pier concrete. To facilitate this assessment, non-destructive testing (NDT) methods will be employed during dive and above-water level surveys (The River Liffey is tidal with a typical range of 4m between high and low tides). These methods will include vertical coring, in-situ testing, laboratory testing, and the development of both Factual and Interpretive Reports, in alignment with the provided Specification. This investigation aims to provide a detailed understanding of the substructure's condition, ensuring the bridge can support the planned widened fixed span decks and identifying any necessary structural interventions.
