- Description:
- Munster Technological University is seeking tenders from competent service providers for the delivery of training programmes for the Medical Device Manufacturing and Food and Beverage sectors for the ReSHAPE Regional Skills Horizon and Pathways to Employment project. The Regional Skills Horizon and Pathways to Employment ReSHAPE project, led by Munster Technological University with partners Technological University of the Shannon and the University of Limerick , is an initiative to deliver education, training and skills development opportunities for the economic development and environmental sustainability of the Midlands region. The ReSHAPE project is cofunded by the government of Ireland and the European Union through the EU Just Transition Fund JTF. The JTF is a financial instrument established by the European Union to support regions and communities most affected by the transition to a greener economy. Its primary aim is to mitigate the social and economic impacts of phasing out carbon-intensive industries and moving towards more sustainable practices. The EU Just Transition Fund has several key objectives: • Supporting Workers: Providing assistance to workers who may lose their jobs or face economic challenges due to the transition away from industries reliant on fossil fuels and other polluting activities. This assistance could include retraining programs, job placement services, or financial support. • Supporting Communities: Assisting regions heavily reliant on carbon intensive industries to diversify their economies and develop new sustainable economic activities. This support helps prevent economic decline and social disruption in these areas. • Promoting Sustainable Development: Investing in projects and initiatives that contribute to the transition towards a greener economy, such as renewable energy infrastructure, energy efficiency improvements, and environmental restoration projects. The EU Just Transition Fund is an integral part of the European Green Deal, which aims to make the EU's economy more sustainable and climate neutral by 2050. By providing targeted support to regions most affected by the transition, the fund seeks to ensure that the process is fair, inclusive, and socially equitable.
