- The Contracting Authority’s Food Environment campaign aims to inspire and empower a societal movement so that healthy eating is within reach of every child, in every community by changing the food environment. The Contracting Authority’s vision is to inspire and empower a societal movement so that healthy eating is within reach of every child, in every community by changing the food environment. To date we have: • Developed a Food Environment Roadmap with partners • Raised public awareness through communication campaigns. Our pre-campaign benchmark research in 2024 showed that: • One in 4 people have heard the term ‘food environment’ before. • Of whom 27 percent don’t know what it is. • 24 percent say it relates to the food available in Ireland / around them. The Contracting Authority’s next step is citizen engagement to build a public momentum behind policy change to underpin a healthier food environment and protect our children’s future health. We want to generate grass root understanding, acceptance and commitment to change. This work will shape the future phases of our campaign. The Contracting Authority wishes to run a series of citizen engagements with the public. The aim is to: • Understand the public’s view of the current food environment. • Co-create a vision of a healthy food environment. • Co-create a way forward to achieve this vision. The Contracting Authority is looking for an experienced citizen engagement or co-design agency to design, host and facilitate the events using best practice for example deliberative dialogue or design thinking approach. The Contracting Authority is keen to explore innovative strategies and approaches inspire citizens to care and be passionate about building a healthy food environment. The agency should be able to demonstrate their skills in working with communities and guiding discussions to make sure everyone’s voice is heard.
