Description:
The Marine Engineering Division (MED) as part of the Department of Agriculture, Food, and the Marine (DAFM) provides an advisory, inspectoral and design and construction service to the Department. This includes the delivery of the annual capital development programme for the six Fishery Harbour Centres nationally, the oversight of the Local Authority Harbour Development Programme and performing the inspectorate and technical advisory role for the aquaculture portfolio. The annual Fishery Harbour Centre Capital Development Programme provides funding (approximately €30-35m) for the maintenance and delivery of new marine infrastructure in the six Fishery Harbour Centres nationally (Killybegs, Co. Donegal; Ros an Mhíl, Co. Galway; An Daingean, Co. Kerry, Castletownbere, Co. Cork, Dunmore East, Co. Waterford and Howth, Co. Dublin). The types of marine infrastructure provided include quays, wharfs, piers, jetties, slipways, marinas and other floating infrastructure, rock revetments, rubble-mound breakwaters, as well as many buildings such as warehouses, welfare facilities, offices, laboratories and the like, engineering workshops, boat repairs buildings, electrical switch-rooms etc. MED want to implement BIM on these projects in line with the phased timelines announced by the Office of Government Procurement. A consultant is required to assist the Division with BIM implementation.
