- Description:
- The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine (DAFM) requires the services of a consultancy firm with expertise in civil, environmental and structural engineering to undertake the five stage services for the Cliff Protection Project at Dunmore East FHC, including performance of the role of PSDP. Dunmore East Village is situated along a cliff face with Dunmore East Fishery Harbour Centre built on reclaimed land below. The relevant portion of cliff is a mix of soil and rock. There has been a series of localised collapses along the cliff face which while minor in nature, still represent a hazard which has required the bottom of the cliff to be fenced off to the public to reduce the risk of injury or damage to property. On the top of the cliff face there is a roadside footpath and low stone wall. The public have been seen climbing over the low wall and walking on the grassy cliff top causing safety concerns. The aim of the project is to assess the stability of the soil and rock outcrops on the cliff face, assess species, habitats and impacts of potential works on biodiversity in the area, design and undertake works to make safe the area on the cliff top, adjoining the public footpath, to protect people from falling from a height and design and undertake works to protect the harbour area from any potential items falling from the cliff face.
