Increasing trade tensions are concerning for Ireland as an export-led economy which has long championed open, fair and rules based international trade. In addition to exporting, many Irish companies depend on their inputs to production and exports from third countries. Against this background, the overarching objective of this project is to identify Ireland’s major trade dependencies and to identify any major vulnerabilities in terms of overreliance on certain trade and investment partners in the face of increasingly interventionist and defensive trade strategies and policies.
