Description:
The purpose of this brief is to outline the requirements for the appointment of an Interpretation/Visitor Experience Consultant to research, assess, and design an interpretation concept which is capable of being developed into a detailed interpretation scheme for a new heritage visitor attraction that will be located at No. 12 Fitzwilliam Street Lower. The Electrical Supply Board will partner with the Irish Heritage Trust to develop a compelling heritage visitor attraction in Dublin’s South Georgian Core. No. 12 is an authentic Georgian residential house, and it is intended that the new attraction will provide an immersive experience that connects the history of Georgian Dublin and Fitzwilliam Street Lower to the history of the ESB and the development of science and technology in the home over 200 years. The new visitor attraction will appeal to a wide variety of audiences and offer a permanent museum exhibition, temporary exhibits, education workspace, and a café. In order to develop No. 12 into a visitor attraction the building will undergo a refurbishment that will be designed by a Grade 1 Conservation Architect. It is envisaged that the multimillion-euro project will take four years, with the museum’s opening coinciding with ESB’s centenary year in 2027.
